Unicorn

Cadie is our adopted daughter. We have had her in our family since she was about 1 1/2.

For her 2nd birthday I created an adorable kitten cake. Unfortunately, the picture for that birthday was lost after we had our computer stolen.

This is her 3rd birthday cake. It was a yellow cake, all buttercream frosting. I had piped the face and details of the unicorn myself. The flower in the unicorn's mane was a fresh flower.

The unicorn was a copy of the birthday party theme I had purchased from Birthday Express.

Curious George

I try my best to do a large variety of birthday party ideas for my children to help keep the interest high and also help them explore new and different things. I know they love being adorable little princesses, but a princess birthday every year would be a bore. This year, Ashley was really into the new movie "Curious George" and so this party  (for her 3rd birthday) took off from there. This cake was devils food, if I recall correctly. The jawline and ears were hand sculpted to help create dimension for the face of the monkey. I then decorated it with buttercream frosting and hand piped the facial features.

Elmo & Care Bears

I created two different ideas for Ashley's 2nd birthday. She was first and foremost obsessed with Elmo. She loved watching Elmo's World on Sesame Street and slept with her special Elmo doll every night. So for her preschool celebration at Glass Beach Preschool, I created a dozen Elmo cupcakes. These cupcakes were box chocolate cake, buttercream frosting, chocolate candy, and liquorish for eyes, nose and mouth.
For her official birthday party, we opted for Care Bears, which was Ashley's second favorite "special stuffy" as she calls them. This cake is made of two 9" cakes (for face and body), and 6 cupcakes for the ears, hands and feet. This cake was a standard yellow cake, frosting was buttercream with hand piped decorations on face & tummy.

Baby Bug Birthday

My daughter Ashley Rose had a ladybug & butterfly birthday theme for her 1st birthday. This is the first cake I made. I originally got the idea for this cake from a cute magazine showcasing children's birthday party themes. This cake was devil's food with raspberry filling. The frosting consisted of buttercream frosting and decorations were made with various candies.
